Nawab's Dreamscape

This project breathes life into the opulence of Mughal and Persian art, transforming its timeless elegance into a contemporary home textile collection. Drawing from architectural motifs, intricate floral patterns, and ornamental designs, the collection bridges the grandeur of the past with modern interior sensibilities. Every stage of this project reflects a deep respect for cultural heritage, emphasizing not only its aesthetic value but also its enduring ability to inspire. The result is a collection that harmoniously bridges the grandeur of the past with the practical elegance of today’s living spaces, offering a refined yet approachable way to incorporate history into modern homes.

1  |  Research

The project began with extensive research to establish a strong conceptual foundation. A detailed mind map was created, outlining key market insights such as target age groups, demographics, customer preferences, and the project’s overarching objectives. This stage ensured the collection’s relevance and appeal to the intended audience.

2  |  Creating Design Boards

The design boards brought clarity and depth to the collection's artistic vision:

  • The Mood Board emphasized luxurious textures, vibrant jewel tones, and intricate patterns typical of Mughal and Persian art. Floral and creeper motifs—hallmarks of Indian architecture and miniature paintings—were central elements, inspired by their symbolic and ornamental significance in monuments like the Taj Mahal and Persian garden designs.

  • The Concept Board focused on the seamless fusion of these historical aesthetics with modern functionality, ensuring the designs resonate with today’s homeowners.

  • The Inspiration Board explored detailed patterns of arches, domes, and jali (latticed screens), along with stylized depictions of flowers such as lotuses, tulips, and roses, often intertwined with creeping vines. These motifs, frequently seen in Indian miniatures and Mughal frescoes, informed the delicate yet bold visual language of the prints.

3  |  Sketches and Product Mockups

The sketches of motifs and patterns were compiled to bring the vision to life. These designs were then applied to product mockups like table runners, carpets, and pillow covers, simulating their real-world application. This stage allowed for an engaging presentation of the prints, demonstrating their aesthetic and functional value in home decor.
